The problem
Sickle cell disease is a neglected rare genetic condition whose vaso-occlusive crises (VOCs) cause acute pain and drive frequent, costly emergency visits and hospitalizations. Today, crises are typically treated after they start rather than anticipated.
Our approach
Working with AP-HP, NeuTigers is researching whether AI models applied to signals from everyday wearables, such as the Withings ScanWatch, can anticipate the onset of a vaso-occlusive crisis early enough for clinicians to intervene — with the model intelligence designed to run on-device.
Current status
Clinical research. The collaboration with AP-HP was announced in 2021 as a study investigating wearables-based prevention of VOC-related hospitalizations. This status describes the program's research stage; it does not imply regulatory clearance, approval or diagnostic status in any jurisdiction.
